Arnold must put a lid on Indian gaming - 2003-10-26
It appears that Governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger will assume a stronger position on Indian gaming than his predecessor. Hopefully he will be more discerning, demanding and selective than Gray Davis when it comes to the total of casinos and their location.

The question is: how many gaming meccas exist or are on the drawing board? We may be nearing 100. If so, it's time to ask: How many do we want?

Unpaid subcontractors have filed nearly $7 million in liens against the new Chukchansi Gold Resort and Casino near Coarsegold, which could rake in more than $130 million a year just from its slot machines.
