Calif. Wildfires Burn 250 Homes, Kill Two - 2003-10-26
Strong Santa Ana winds kicked up before dawn Sunday, directing two ferocious firestorms that had already burned over 200 homes into dozens more houses. Two people apparently attempting to escape another wildfire, in San Diego County, died in their car.

The smoke and flames provoked the evacuation of a university campus, Indian casino and state mental hospital.

Arnold Appears At Mr. Olympia - 2003-10-26
California Gov.-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger demonstrated his soft spot for body building, popping in suddenly at the Mr. Olympia contest to congratulate the winner.

Himself a seven-time Mr. Olympia, Schwarzenegger garnered cheers and chants of “Arnold” and “Governator” from the crowd Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Hotel-Casino as he distributed medals.
