Casino support highest where jobs are shakiest - 2003-10-26
Ron Hemingway has worked at the local paper mill for 27 years of his life but feels little sense of job security. Maine's paper industry is in a slump.
The MeadWestvaco plant where Hemingway works exceeds 100 miles from Sanford, where two of Maine's American Indian tribes want to build a casino and resort.

But Hemingway is campaigning as though his livelihood depends on the success of a Nov. 4 ballot question that would allow the tribes to acquire a casino.
