There are five existing economic development plans for state legislators to contemplate. They are:

Iowa Values: A $500 million campaign by Gov. Tom Vilsack, who recommended the state multiply the cash by issuing bonds and compensating the liability with gambling profits.

"Nights-at-the-Races", Are they lawful? - 2003-03-11
For years, our district had a well-known status for gambling. Now, one local Police Department is taking a harsh stand against it: many say too harsh.

Recently, the police chief of Niles cautioned charities not to endorse pseudo- "Nights-at-the-Races". The popular events allow participants to bet on video horse races, and other games.
