Japan's Academic Society Encourages Authorizing Casinos - 2003-03-11
The chairman of the nation's first academic society devoted to the study of gambling and gaming would like to assist in creating a gambling culture in Japan.
'We learn about life through experiencing little wins and losses,' Ichiro Tanioka, 46, explained. 'Because there's no gambling culture ingrained in our society, many people went too far during the bubble period and ended up gambling their way to failure.'
