Gaming Compact: The assembly votes - 2003-03-12
A Senate committee voted overwhelmingly Tuesday to approve a bill that would grant lawmakers the final ruling over gaming agreements between the governor and American Indian tribes that span beyond 15 years or extend gambling to off-reservation sites.

Today the Assembly is scheduling a vote for its version of the bill, which the Assembly Committee on State Affairs authorized Monday after a public hearing the lasted three hours. The Senate is scheduled to vote on the bill Thursday.

Bill help regain charity gaming rights - 2003-03-12
In its urgency to repeal the state’s Las Vegas night law, the General Assembly mistakenly took away the right of schools and charitable organizations to run carnival-type games.

At a legislative hearing Tuesday several lawmakers testified in support of a bill that would maintain that right.
State Rep. Annette Carter, D-Hartford, stated, however, that she feels the games are a sort of gambling that should be banned.
