Casino funded stadium ended by governor - 2003-03-13
It seems as though the governor isn't going to gamble with an intention to finance a new baseball stadium in exchange for permitting a casino to be established in Portland.

The governor's spokesman Scott Ballo notified KATU that the governor is excluding the plan because he doesn't want to mix the baseball concept with a casino.

For a gaming mecca that is currently, more than ever, a drive-in market, the impact of high gas prices on the region’s casinos would appear to be dramatic.

Those policies may return if gas prices stay in overdrive. For now though, most major casinos are indolently in wait-and-see mode.
