Council supports casino bill - 2003-03-13
Citing the state’s desperation for revenue and a desire to curtail the flow of gaming dollars to neighboring states, the City Council has officially announced its support for legislation that would permit construction of three resort casinos in Massachusetts.

The council offered its support for the proposed casinos Tuesday night, voting 7-1 in favor of a resolution asking it to defend the gambling expansion bill issued at the Statehouse last week by state Sen. Joan M. Menard, D-Somerset.

Legislation sees gambling expansion - 2003-03-13
With advocates anticipating that the state's budget complications will help their cause, a Senate panel opened two days of testimony Wednesday on proposals to develop more legal gambling in Kansas.

On the list of topics is a plan for a casino with Branson-style entertainment on the banks of the Kansas River in Wyandotte County.
