Some Legislators Want Online Gambling Controls - 2003-03-13
A small bipartisan cluster of legislators wants to let states manage and tax Internet gambling, even as others in Congress freshen efforts to abolish the burgeoning form of wagering.
Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., introduced legislation Wednesday that would pave the road to sanctioning online gambling in states interested in licensing, overseeing and rounding up taxes from the budding industry.
