Blackpool disclosed a £1bn master plan yesterday to transform itself from a world-weary seaside resort to a glossy and lavish entertainment hub.

Nevertheless, the council has articulated its concerns over plans to institute casinos and turn the place into the Las Vegas of the north, and broadcasted its own plans for a more family-orientated metamorphosis.
