Tribes want Sebelius to endorse their casino plan - 2003-03-15
Before Gov. Kathleen Sebelius revealed her proposal to spread out gambling, two Indian tribes revealed to a top aide to the governor that their plan to initiate a casino close to Kansas City would be more realistic and more profitable.

"We are reminding her we are the tribes of Kansas, we are financing this with Kansas money and the money would stay in Kansas," Fredia Perkins, vice chairwoman of the Sac and Fox Nation, affirmed Friday.

Video poker probably won't make a comeback - 2003-03-15
One of the Senate's principal lawmakers publicly revealed Friday that any efforts to bring back video poker to Georgia would probably not make a successful run on the way to his chamber.

In 2001, the General Assembly, led by then-Gov. Roy Barnes, outlawed the games, which critics stated were consistantly being used for illegal gambling.
