Video poker would be unwelcomed in the Senate - 2003-03-15
One of the Senate's principal legislators stated Friday that any effort to bring video poker back to Georgia would likely be dead on arrival in his chamber.

"I don't think that's an option," stated Senate Republican Leader Tom Price, of Roswell.
In 2001, the General Assembly, headed by then-Gov. Roy Barnes, outlawed the games, which critics stated were regularly being used for illegal gambling.

Proposal regarding state lottery fumbles - 2003-03-15
Two members of an Assembly committee stated on Friday they are contesting a state lottery, in spite of testimony from a fellow legislator that Nevada could collect $100 million a year by joining the multistate Powerball lottery.

"The people I talk to on the streets say 'I never go into a casino, but I'd buy a lottery ticket,' " McClain shared. "I think there are two different gambling personalities."
