New South African Casino Association Created - 2003-03-18
Casino owners within South Africa have designed a voluntary orgainzation to publicize the industry's interests, secretary Hendrik Brand publicly disclosed on Tuesday.

The Casino Association of South Africa (Casa) held its first meeting on Thursday last week in Johannesburg. Balele Leisure, Emerald Safari Resorts, the Gold Reef Group, Global Resorts, Sun International, Tsogo Sun and Tusk Resorts comprise the founding associates.

Casinos Increase Security Measures - 2003-03-18
The promise of imminent hostilities in the Middle East left casino executives on Monday to opt for integrating heightened security measures, but they in no panic over marketing programs. Specific security measures likely to be added will be associated to the federal alert status, most casino operators reported.

Emergency response activity at Boyd casinos, for instance, would be subject to heavy scrutiny of parked vehicles and "if we go to red, there's a plan in place to bring in bomb-sniffing dogs and similar sorts of precautions," he said.
