Governor proposes state lottery to Senate committee - 2003-03-19
Gov. Brad Henry followed through on a promise to alter his intentions for a state lottery when a new version of his proposal emerged from a Senate committee on Monday.

"I really feel like government has no business running a gambling operation," Corn shared. "What kind of message do we relay to our kids in this state when we tell them we're going to fund education from something that, in my mind, is an immoral action?"

Online-gambling ban receives support in Senate - 2003-03-19
Senate lawmakers stated that on Tuesday they would make an additional attempt to outlaw Internet gambling, despite the fears of several professionals, who stated U.S. states should rather try to adjust the $4 billion industry.

Top legislators on the Senate Banking and Finance Committee revealed that they supported a bill requiring credit-card companies and payment services like PayPal to nullify money transfers going to Internet gambling sites.
