Workplace willing to take NCAA pools - 2003-03-23
NCAA tournament office pools: endangerment to workplace productivity or employee morale encourager?
Some institutions, like the U.S. Postal Service for instance, ban the office contests and any other sort of gambling on the property.

Laws about such gambling vary in different states, but generally authorities have taken no interest in such pools unless they get complaints about them and if the coordinators are pocketing part of the entry fees.

Lawmakers choose to extract nearly all of Rainy Day fund - 2003-03-23
The Nevada Legislature concurred Friday with the governor that, economically, it's raining cats and dogs.

They decided to drain it all minus $1 million from the so-called "rainy day fund" to permit the state to stay in the black through the end of the fiscal year.
"That's gambling with the future of this state."
