River Rock Casino plans 7-story garage - 2003-09-13
Construction is commencing on what could be a seven-story parking garage at the River Rock Casino in Alexander Valley, which Sonoma County officials say would be an eyesore among scenic vineyards and rolling green hills and could provoke landslides.

The Dry Creek Band of Pomo Indians insist the 1,350-space garage is just a plan, and the large construction project on their reservation is merely an effort to stabilize a hillside that gave in earlier this year.

Gaming briefs for Sept. 12, 2003 - 2003-09-13
The Latin Chamber of Commerce of Nevada has selected Park Place Entertainment Corp. as the grantee of the "Corporate Award of Distinction."

Park Place's "commitment to give back to the communities in which its casino resorts are located" and a "desire to improve the quality of life for Hispanics in Nevada" led to the honor, Latin Chamber Executive Director Otto Merida stated.
