An early drunkenness hit Melbourne yesterday as the majority of the city's 400,000 partygoers were stranded at train stations, tram stops and taxi ranks.

Just tly after missing out on catching the train home, Mr Walters spent two hours waiting at Crown Casino for a taxi before going to the Flinders St Station cab rank.

The company that owns London's top two exhibition halls is available for sale as private equity group Candover hopes to cash in on its majority stake.

The move comes following the recent Government Green Paper signalling the go-ahead for Las Vegas-style resort casinos where MGM is currently one of the world's head operators.
