Landmark Horseshoe casino in Vegas shuts down - 2004-01-12
A landmark hotel-casino was closed indefinitely this weekend following the shut down of the casino floor and seizure of an estimated $500,000 to pay for unpaid employee benefits.

The front doors were locked Saturday and yellow police tape welcomed visitors to Binion's Horseshoe Hotel & Casino, a downtown Las Vegas fixture for 52 years and site of the wildly popular World Series of Poker.

Gambler hits obstacles instead of $2.5 million jackpot - 2004-01-12
Las Vegan Art Miles stated that he was waiting for his wife to finish playing slots at the Castaways resort when he dropped $15 of his own into a Quartermania progressive slot machine in December 2001.

But the Gaming Control Board, the Castaways casino and the owner of the slot machine, International Game Technology, interrupted.
