Iowa County Observes Gambling Legislation Cautiously - 2004-01-14
Worth and Palo Alto county locals expect that the Legislature will direct the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to lift a moratorium on granting more casino permits.

Voters in both counties voted last year in support of casino gambling. Black Hawk and Wapello county voters also voted in favor of casinos, and Franklin County residents will vote on a proposed casino Jan. 27.

Mayors attempt to save Crestwood casino agreement - 2004-01-14
In a desperate effort to save Crestwood's casino plan, a handful of south suburban mayors are meeting with Metropolitan Water Reclamation District officials to bargain a last-minute property lease.

The water district manages the land along the banks of the Calumet Sag Channel in Crestwood where a casino would be built.
On Thursday, Crestwood Mayor Chester Stranczek is to meet with water district executives to discuss a lease.
