Tribe agree to sacrifice for casino - 2004-01-16
Two Oklahoma Indian tribes are agreeing to cancel claims to 27 million acres in Colorado -- including land in Fort Collins -- in exchange for a small reservation, casino and cultural center east of Denver.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes sated that Wednesday the casino and Colorado Plains Indian Cultural Center would generate 1,500 construction jobs and supply 4,000 permanent jobs.

A judge Thursday permitted an auction of the state's 10th casino permit to continue, but a popular player in the casino competition, Donald Trump, was forced to withdraw from the bidding.

Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts had intended to construct a casino in Crestwood, but its proposal failed because a lease for the site it wanted in the south suburb could not be bargained in time for the bid deadline, which is Monday.
