Illinois Casinos Show Mixed Outcome; Ameristar Earnings Rises 34 Percent - 2004-01-16
Gambling earnings and admissions stats fell at the Alton Belle in 2003, according to Illinois Gaming Board figures.
For the year, revenue decreased about 8 percent to $109.7 million from 2002, while the total of people visiting the gambling region fell almost 12 percent to 1.46 million.

At the Casino Queen in East St. Louis, gambling revenues increased one-half of a percent from 2002 to $157.8 million, while admission numbers fell three-tenths of a percent to a little over 2 million.

Mass. Lottery games to unite, jackpots will growth - 2004-01-16
The executive director of the state lottery explained that offering games with bigger jackpots will entice more players, raise revenues for cities and towns while withdrawing demand for casino gambling.

Appearing at a meeting of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce in North Andover, Sullivan stated that the additional revenue should cool legislative attempts to introduce casino gambling to Massachusetts.
