Slot machine earnings at Connecticut's two casinos increased in December despite stormy weekends and the public's obsession with the holidays.

The hold, or total of the slot machine handle that the casino kept as winnings, averaged 8.08 percent.
The casino win rose .57 percent over the previous December and its handle increased by 2.5 percent.
