The Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe has been purchasing land close to this isolated mountain town, fueling worries among locals who wonder what the tribe's intentions are.

Unlike the Stillaguamish Tribe in Arlington, Joseph stated that the Sauk-Suiattle do not expect to establish a casino on the land, which he said is too isolated to make such a business profitable.
