Following years of accusiation over where Illinois' next casino will be constructed, the serious contenders have to place their cards on the table Monday via informal bids for the state's long-dormant 10th casino permit.

An arrangement years in the making has given state gambling regulators control over the bidding process and latitude in choosing who gets to purchase the license now held by bankrupt Emerald Casino Inc.

In recent weeks, controversy has surrounded the Ho-Chunk Nation and its proposal to convert the DeJope bingo hall into a casino.
However, many fear the negative impact of a casino will overshadow the money the Nation is giving.

David Relles, spokesperson for the group No Dane Casino, stated that the area may not realize the impact a casino could bring.
