Police officials in Reno and at Lake Tahoe report their New Year celebrations were clustered, but mostly uneventful.
Authorities in Reno think the endangerment of snow could have disheartened some troublemakers and kept drunks off the road.

That's a similar number officials at Tahoe estimate crowded into the casino area at the south shore in spite of the snow that fell there.
