Barstow gambling motion bothers critics - 2004-01-20
The City Council is prepared to hire a negotiator to broker an agreement for an Indian casino, but some are upset because the casino developer is paying the negotiator.
"How can the city be represented by this guy?" inquired Pastor Joe Green, an opponent of the casino. "I'm certain he is top-quality, but there is an obvious conflict of interest in that the tribe is paying his salary."
