Trump backs out of Emerald Casino license hunt - 2004-01-20
Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts, the gaming empire controled by real estate mogul Donald Trump, stated on Monday that it would submit a bid to purchase bankrupt Emerald Casino and would rather seek another way to obtain an Illinois riverboat license.

Illinois has been intending to obtain $350 million from the license, which also will supply casino operators already working in the state with a tax rollback.

Casino Deals Delayed by State, Tribal Issues - 2004-01-20
New York State authorized the construction of three Indian casinos for the old resort areas here in the Catskills over two years ago, and people in the region practically started to tally the money they intended to receive from gamblers and construction projects and new jobs.

The Catskills casinos are bogged down in the same legal and cultural struggle that has bedeviled the state's relationship with Indian tribes for generations: land ownership, taxes and independence.
