Festival organizers hope for 80,000 - 2004-01-20
Organizers of Grand Excursion 2004 are hoping they have 80,000 people participate in various Quad-City area activities being planned around the traveling riverboat celebration.

MetroLINK, Great River Bend Transit and Bettendorf Transit are providing shuttle buses that will transport visitors from the “Hospitality Landing” near the Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf to the dozen or so activities up and down the river.

Jumer’s Casino Rock Island is constructing one of the biggest commercial investments ever in Rock Island by establishing a casino complex Jumer’s management states will change the look of gaming in the Quad-Cities.

Authorities of Rock Island Boatworks Inc., who have been searching for a method to move from downtown Rock Island for several years, unwrapped plans for a $90 million casino Monday that will be built on Big Island close to Interstate 280 and Illinois 92.
