Harrah's is set to host - 2004-01-21
The twice-bankrupt Harrah's New Orleans Casino, which had its best year yet in 2003, is turning its barely-used ballroom into a 516-seat showroom.

Beginning in May, the casino expects to have headline entertainers perform there five nights per week, as do the casinos along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The showroom will have a stage, and permanent and VIP seating.

Legislators Seeking Pr. George's Casino - 2004-01-21
A group of lawmakers from Prince George's County is claiming to scuttle any legislation that would expand gambling in Maryland unless the county is promised a "destination resort" casino and a hefty amount of the proceeds.

Among the plans being deliberated: that Prince George's be given a license for a complete casino resort; that the county government get 20 percent of all gambling proceeds; and that the county keep the authority to create its own gaming commission to regulate gambling licenses.
