Conciliation would permit VLTs at Oklahoma tracks - 2004-01-21
Oklahoma Governor Brad Henry on Tuesday authorized an agreement that would permit the integration of video lottery terminals in three of the state’s horse racing facilities.

The measure would permit Oklahoma racetracks to install gaming machines like those currently in operation at many of the unregulated tribal casinos in the state.

Gov. proceeds with gambling bills - 2004-01-21
Still contesting a proposed casino, but protective of the state’s two existing gambling parlors, Gov. Donald L. Carcieri is filing two pieces of legislation that would function in keeping a casino at bay.

The governor’s proposals come on the heels of a poll administered by Lincoln Park that found almost 60 percent of Rhode Islanders prefer a casino, but 75 percent believe it should pay the same gaming tax as Lincoln and Newport.
