Measure requests Indians pay state portion of gambling income - 2004-01-22
The Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians has extended a thorny olive branch to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, offering a new ballot initiative that asks for tribes to pay as much as corporations to the state general fund.

In exchange, tribes would be permitted to control as many casinos as they choose on their reservations and to present roulette and craps, which they are unable to do under current state law.

Customers hit casino owner's revenue - 2004-01-22
The UK gaming group, which operates 41 casinos and 640 betting shops, saw its pre-tax profits drop to £21.5m ($39.6m) in the six months to 26 October.

Stanley stated that a run of huge wins for high stake players at its prestigious Crockfords casino, in London's Mayfair, had affected the company's earnings. But the performance of its betting shop division continued to be robust, Stanley explained.
