Boyd Gaming to Purchase Riverboat Casino - 2004-01-22
Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming on Tuesday evening publicized a $190 million deal to purchase Harrah's Shreveport riverboat in northwestern Louisiana, a deal company executives feel adds a solid cash-producing casino at an attractive value.

The settlement is also a bonus for Harrah's Entertainment, that company's executives stated, because it eases worries about Harrah's market concentration in the Shreveport area pending its $1.45 billion agreement to buy Jack Binion's three-riverboat casino company.

Perini Building Co. Granted Contract to Construct Renaissance Hotel - 2004-01-22
Dallas real estate developer Jackson-Shaw Co. granted Perini Building Co. a $54 million construction contract to build the Las Vegas Renaissance Hotel, a lavish property adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Marriott International is the proprietor of this full-service high-end brand. The new Las Vegas Renaissance Hotel will be the biggest non-casino hotel in Nevada and the most costly at $100 million.
