Slots authorized for Vancouver - 2004-01-23
In a 1 a.m. 5-4 vote yesterday, Vancouver council, authorized a new casino that for the first time in the city's history will permit slot machines. This has made Grand Casino owner Len Libin "a pretty happy camper."

The decision more or less allows Grand Casino and Royal Diamond to convert Exhibition Hall at the Plaza of Nations into a 70,000-square-foot, three-level casino housing 600 slot machines.

Golden Nugget proprietors establish four-year license - 2004-01-23
The Golden Nugget hotel-casinos in downtown Las Vegas and Laughlin launched this morning under new ownership, even though customers and passerbys likely wouldn't detect any changes.

The men have pledged to keep all 3,600 employees at both casinos, including rank-and-file employees as well as managers. They also expect to keep the properties in order while working behind the scenes to boost hotel business through Internet bookings.
