State starts deliberating over tribal compact - 2004-01-23
Following up on the governor’s campaign promise to gather more Indian gaming revenue, the state started tribal compact negotiations Thursday in an assembly with the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and six other tribes.

The group deliberated about revenue-sharing with the state, the per-tribe cap of 2,000 slot machines, and mitigation of the effect on nearby local communities, according to a report from the governor’s office.

$2.2 million! Dorrity hits Elko jackpot at Red Lion - 2004-01-23
Martha Dorrity, who regularly flies to Elko on Casino Express Airlines, began the new year right by winning over $2 million at the Red Lion Inn & Casino.

"That's the largest jackpot won in Elko," stated Matt Murray, special events and promotions manager for McClaskey Holdings LLC, which controls the Red Lion.
