First Meeting Issued By New Gaming Committee - 2004-01-24
Rep. Bobby Moak, D-Bogue Chitto, arranged the first official assembly of the new Gaming Committee of the state House of Representatives on Thursday, following having an unofficial meeting earlier in the week.

He explained that he wants the committee to become expert at all issues regarding casino gambling in Mississippi.

David Appel, the Israeli property developer at the center of the storm that endangers the toppling of Ariel Sharon would have required heavyweight political support for his plans to develolp a casino in a region of outstanding natural beauty near Athens, the Guardian has learned.

It would also have featured building a casino in a country where private casinos were outlawed until the late 1990s and continue to be highly regulated by the state.
