M'ville unable to obtain $500,000 grant - 2004-01-24
An inappropriate environmental evaluation will cost the community a $500,000 grant that had been earmarked for bringing Lake Michigan water to the Independence Hill region.

"When we get our next draw from the town's casino money we will cut a check to Boyd Construction. He (the owner) has been very patient, so we want to pay him back as rapidly as we can," Dal Corobbo explained.

Ascension council greenlights District 1 program aid - 2004-01-24
The Ascension Parish Council moved Thursday to help Ascension Consolidated Utilities District 1.

The land transfer is to resolve a lawsuit introduced by the owners of Lucky Star truck stop and casino, who claimed their property is in St. James Parish, which allows video gambling, and not in Ascension Parish, which voted out video poker.
