County Commissioners Want Another Bargain On Pyramid Deal - 2004-01-25
So how doomed is the "Tomb of Doom?" The mood is sad, after Shelby County Commissioners agreed to a deal that will force the Pyramid to continue committed solely to basketball for the next 50 years.

According to the contract, The Pyramid, on which we still owe $35 Million by the way, can't be made over into to anything else: not a hotel, not a casino. Commissioner Joyce Avery states County Attorney Brian Kuhn is curretly looking for a new agreement.

State would be wise evade legal gambling temptation - 2004-01-25
Indiana's foray on state-sanctioned gambling first began with the seemingly chaste development of a lottery 15 years prior. Four years later, the General Assembly authorized a bill authorizing the first riverboat casinos.

More boats would do the same. So would extended hours for the casinos to operate. Then came dockside gambling. With each move, Indiana added more revenue and made gambling more commercial.
