Schwarzenegger expected to cut into budget - 2004-01-03
Dealt with a shortfall of roughly $14 billion and a promise not to raise taxes, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is likely to release a budget next week with few surprises it will contain cuts, cuts and more cuts.

He is likely to renew his pledge to get a bigger share of Indian gambling profits, and his call for new concessions from labor unions. And there are hints of reforms and reorganizations aimed at making the state more efficient and cost conscious.

State lottery changes stand on video lottery advertising - 2004-01-03
Limited video lottery retailers who also sell traditional lottery games will be permitted limited advertising according to a policy revision disclosed by Lottery Commissioner John Musgrave.

Friday's action reverses Musgrave's original interpretation of Gov. Bob Wise's executive order that banned limited video lottery from having ads or signs that used words or phrases associated with gambling.
