New downtown events center to enhance convention building - 2004-01-06
Reno’s new downtown events center will be a vital tool in the region’s fight to compete against Indian gaming in California, casino officials indicated Monday.

The 118,000-square-foot events center, at the corner of East Fourth and Lake streets, would host small conventions and trade shows, sporting events, concerts and complement the convention center in south Reno by providing space for smaller conventions or overflow from large ones.

Plenty of good seats at private casinos - 2004-01-06
Not one high-rolling gambler placed bets in the Strip's three private casinos between March 1 and Nov. 30, the Gaming Control Board revealed Monday.

The private casinos, called "international gaming salons" by state regulators, have won only $3.5 million since the first one went into operation at the MGM Grand in August 2002.
