With his multi-media admissions that he did wager on baseball, Pete Rose is batting .500. But this is a real-life mark, not a batting average and sometimes, real life demands that you go for something closer to 1.000.
For the next 14 years, Rose kept on, in the most public way possible, with what turned out to be this complete fiction. On the other side of the issue, there was the work of John Dowd, who did an exhaustive investigation of Rose's gambling and produced an extremely well documented report.
