Odds of getting gaming license promising: officials - 2004-01-07
The probabilities of Country Club Hills obtaining an Illinois gaming permit are better than average, in the opinion of Anthony B. Bass, an attorney with Chicago law firm Greene and Letts.

Later this month, a gaming company will be bidding on behalf of Country Club Hills for the state's 10th gaming license. It probably will be one of seven or eight bidders.Bass was hired by the city to find a casino operator for the 454-acre Gatling property south of Interstate 80 and east of Interstate 57.

Bangor Raceway readies for installation of new slot machines - 2004-01-07
Operators of the Bangor Raceway on Tuesday opened up the refurbished grandstands for inspection after a $575,000 renovation in expectation of the arrival of slot machines.

Scott, who now controls Bangor Historic Track, has delayed the launching of his racetrack casino until Feb. 23 at the request of Gov. John Baldacci.
The developer has maintained that the law allowing slot machines should take effect Jan. 3.
