Delray permits video slot arcade, despite gambling concerns - 2004-01-07
A video slot machine arcade won city permission Tuesday to run in a strip mall, while a debate goes on statewide on whether such operations are a form of illegal gambling.

City commissioners will consider prohibiting more of the so-called arcade amusement centers in the city for four months. That would allow for the outcome of a court case examining the legality of the machines and the arcades.

Reinstatement could depend on conditions - 2004-01-07
As Pete Rose readied Tuesday for a national tour on behalf of the book that is a tool for his gambling confessional, there was no clear indication of where his possible reinstatement by baseball is headed, if anywhere.

However, a high-ranking official commented emphatically that if Rose is reinstated at some point, "it will be with lots of limits and restrictions."
