Casino's foes approach governor for intervention - 2004-01-08
Covering their bets in an effort to stop a proposed casino on the Shingle Springs Rancheria, El Dorado County supervisors are asking Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to prevent construction of a Highway 50 interchange to serve the project.

Ed Knapp, chief assistant county counsel, said Wednesday that he planned to personally deliver a letter to the Governor's Office and area legislators today. "We don't want the casino issue to be lost in all the concerns over the state budget," explained Supervisor Charlie Paine

Integrating Casino chips in currency - 2004-01-08
In a new research report published by the New Scientist, casino chips which have installed embedded radio frequency identification tags (RFID) could eventually replace traditional paper currency or bank notes and decrease fraud.

The RFID tags in the chips, will help casino track and monitor counterfeits, behavior of gamblers, and allow casinos to be more vigilant to combat fraud.
