A federal appeals court in Chicago will hear debates later this month in a legal fight involving three Chippewa tribes' attempts to open a casino at a defunct greyhound race track just minutes outside the Twin Cities, a tribal attorney reports.

At stake was almost 10 years worth of efforts by three northern Wisconsin bands of the Lake Superior Chippewa Tribe to establish a Las Vegas-style casino in close proximity to a large population of people.

Officials have no option for hotels infringing homeland security law - 2004-01-09
Over 100 large hotel resorts in Nevada are infringing on a new homeland security regulation involving them to submit special emergency response plans to the state and local police departments, officials stated Thursday.

The plans, called for under homeland security legislation passed this summer, are created to secure casino visitors in case of an attack.
