Gaming board won't display its hand - 2004-02-01
The Illinois Gaming Board will not make public the proposals presented by companies seeking the last gaming license until later this week, disappointing resident officials who want a view at the competition.

In a twist in the complicated process of applying for permission to launch a casino, the gaming board refused to reveal the seven bids until board members examine the plans.

Legislators vow no more betting - 2004-02-01
The gambling discussion has taken some striking twists and turns in the years since the state commenced the Hoosier Lottery. Increasingly, it appears, the newest argument boils down to three words: "Why not here?"

So within the late 1900s, as the state approved riverboat casinos on Lake Michigan and the Ohio River, the cry from economically strapped Orange County was, in part, "Why not here?"
