Tribe and Plymouth Fight Over New Casino Project - 2004-02-10
A landless Indian tribe in Amador County has been seaching for a home, and it found one in the small community of Plymouth. It may not be a problem with the exception of the Ione Band of Miwok Indians who want to contruct a very large casino there.
Many people in Plymouth don't want a casino in their community. "The location is inappropriate," insists Elida Malick, a member of the Plymouth Planning Commission. "If people want to gamble, they're entitled to gamble. It's a question of where this facility is going to be put."
