RP Council supports casino position - 2004-02-11
The Rohnert Park City Council took the strange step Tuesday of issuing a statement supporting itself against accusations that it is spending taxpayer money to deny citizens of the right to vote.

Stung by critics asking for a referendum on a $200 million deal with an Indian tribe planning a casino near Rohnert Park, the council stated that it is opposing inapproriate legal challenges brought by a "small and vocal minority."

Tacoma, Wash., Port Defends Tribal Casino labors - 2004-02-11
The Puyallup Tribe of Indians may not meet much resistance in a motion to construct another casino on reservation land.
On Monday, the tribe and officials from the Port of Tacoma signed a deal that offers the port's support in the tribe's efforts to acquire its third casino.

The proposal inevitably requires final authorization from the governor's office.
But it's not possible such a move would be stopped, Susan Arland, a spokeswoman for the Washington State Gambling Commission, stated Tuesday.
