Forces partner to contest casino - 2004-02-11
The Chamber of Commerce and Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton are partnering to oppose any Danbury-area casino with a public relations campaign.
Boughton informed a group of business leaders and lawmakers at the Chamber’s annual Eggs and Issues breakfast Tuesday that the concept is to counter any public relations campaign that precedes a casino bid in Western Connecticut. No such bid has been made.

County postpones ruling on tribal deal - 2004-02-11
Clark County commissioners were all ears intently Tuesday as people praised and scrutinized a deal between the county and the Cowlitz Indian Tribe on the guidelines governing a proposed casino.

Greg Overstreet -- an Olympia lawyer representing owners of four La Center cardrooms, which many feel would be threatened by competition from a casino -- stated that commissioners should urge for a better agreement because, he said, the Bureau of Indian Affairs would pay close detail to local opinion.
