Freedom Ship puts down foundation to begin work - 2004-02-11
The ship that supporters envision emerging as a home to 70,000 people just landed a new skipper.

Sarasota-based Freedom Ship International Inc. appointed Paul Genova, a New Jersey-based financial planner and accountant, as president.
The floating district would carry its own schools, hospitals, stores and parks. Its financial success, though, would depend on a scheduled 300,000-square- foot casino, a 10,000-room hotel, 3,100 time-share units and 17,000 condo-style homes.

City greenlights stadium, housing bid - 2004-02-11
The city authorized the proposed minor league baseball stadium and 186 apartments on property previously owned by Union Carbide Corp. off Saw Mill Road.

"They should be in the ground in the spring,” revealed Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, who labeled the development of the Carbide land a key in the city’s plans to prevent any casino from locating in Danbury. The former Carbide land was listed as one potential casino site by the Schaghticoke tribe in 2001.
