Clark County postpones ruling on tribal casino agreement - 2004-02-12
A proposed casino is on the brains of Clark County commissioners.
The commissioners heard an assembly of people who supported and criticized a deal between the county and the Cowlitz Indian Tribe.

The deal took an estimated two years to draft. It will go into action if the tribe constructs a casino on 152 acres it owns on the west side of La Center Junction.

Use casino money, tax alleviation for poor - 2004-02-12
As he did three years ago, Lake County Commissioner Rudy Clay is again encouraging local communities to spend their casino tax profits to pay poor senior citizens’ land taxes.

According to Clay, the casino money that would be used to pay property taxes, come back to the local municipality in the form of property tax revenue for schools and government.

Clay insists many seniors, who are on focused on incomes, can’t pay for life’s general needs.
